Cookies we set

Auroracast does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party analytics or advertising service. We set one first-party cookie:

We use your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is never sent to our server and is only readable by this site on your device.

How to clear your preferences

You can clear all stored preferences by opening your browser's developer tools (F12 or ⌘+Option+I on Mac), going to Application → Local Storage → auroracast.co.uk, and clicking "Clear All". Clearing your browser's site data will also remove them. To log out and delete the session cookie, use the logout option in the account menu.

Service worker

If you enable push notifications, a service worker is registered in your browser. This is a small background script that enables notifications to be delivered even when the tab is closed. It stores no personal data. It can be removed by unsubscribing from alerts in Settings, which also unregisters the service worker.

Third-party cookies

Esri satellite map tiles are loaded in your browser for the aurora globe. Esri may set their own cookies under their domain. When you search for a location, your browser contacts Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) directly — they may log your IP address per their own privacy policy. Please refer to those services' own policies for details.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if we introduce any new cookies or storage. We do not intend to add tracking or advertising cookies.
